Assistant Director of Nursing

MeadowView Memory Care Village is looking for an Assistant Director of Nursing! Come be a part of our unique, one-of-a-kind dementia specific community located in Cedar Rapids. 

Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, the Assistant Director of Nursing ensures all aspects in health care services. The Assistant Director of Nursing must be able to transcribe physician orders, administer medications and treatments, and assess and evaluate emergency situations. This position requires applicants to build constructive relationships with residents, families, and staff to create an environment that is supportive to optimal resident function, motivating for staff satisfaction and creativity, and that encourages family and staff partnerships for care of residents. Support residents and their families during move-in and adjustment phases. The Assistant Director of Nursing must demonstrate effective supervisory skills by recruiting, hiring, orienting, scheduling, teaching, supervising, and evaluating nursing staff. ADON will maintain nursing policies and procedures, resident charts, and staff training documentation. Communicate with family regarding resident’s condition and needs.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated to accomplish assigned responsibilities with minimal supervision and lead team members towards accomplishing common goals. They must be available for special events, projects, and other team efforts.

Qualifications: Must have current license as LPN/RN in the State of Iowa. Must have a genuine interest in geriatric nursing. Previous experience in assisted living community nursing management or experience in a long term care setting. Working with people who have a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s and/or dementia preferred. Minimum of three years supervisory experience in nursing required with effective delegation skills and follow up. Requires a thorough knowledge of all aspects of aging. Must be well organized, PC proficient and have effective verbal and written communication skills. Must possess consistent initiative, patience, good judgment, and leadership ability.
